About Sara
When people ask me why I chose to go into the profession of Psychotherapy, I am always quick to tell them that it is not a profession that I chose. Rather, the profession chose me. For as long as I can remember, I have held a deep passion for supporting people as they come into more loving relationships with themselves as well as with those to whom they are connected.
I feel that the work I am privileged to do with others is simply a natural extension of who I am. As such, I regard my work as deeply meaningful and motivated by a strong sense of purpose.
My work is guided by my deeply held belief that each and every one of us has been put on this planet to express our unique truth.
In other words, I believe that:
Your authentic truth is the single greatest gift you have, and to deny yourself the permission to live in the space of your authenticity is to do a disservice to the world. You are valuable, worthy and lovable just the way you are. No exceptions.
And so…
I’m here to help you address what’s getting in the way of you living in your authentic truth. How do you want to feel?
Excited? Happy? Energized? Inspired? Loved? Fulfilled? Free? Connected? Joyous? Compassionate? Abundant? Peaceful?
I want that for you too.
My Therapeutic Approach
I believe that effective therapy can only be done in the container of a safe therapeutic relationship. It is always my primary goal to ensure that you feel seen, heard, understood, respected, and cared for.
My approach is relaxed and casual. I believe that good therapy allows us to show up just as we are, with no pretense. In our time together, you can expect to be held in compassion and unconditional acceptance, with room for all of your thoughts, emotions and forms of expression.
Our work together will be collaborative, in that I will consistently “check-in” with you to ensure that the therapeutic direction is one which feels helpful and suited to your goals.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, a Master of Arts degree in Counselling Psychology, and membership with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), as a Registered Psychotherapist. Additionally, I regularly invest my time in specialized training as a means to ensure that those I work with receive the highest quality of care and support.
As such, I have received specialized training in the following subject areas:
- Grief and bereavement
- Working with survivors of childhood abuse/trauma
- Cultivating self-compassion
- Emotionally Focused Couple’s Therapy (EFT) & Emotionally Focused Therapy for Individuals (EFIT)
- Emotion-Focused Therapy for Individuals
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
- Internal Family Systems (IFS)
- Narrative Therapy
- Brainspotting
It truly is my deepest honour to companion others on their journey toward happiness and fulfillment. I look forward to connecting and working with you.
